Programs & Services

Dedicated to improving the future of hemophilia care at every level, Bayer HealthCare develops, funds, or assists with a variety of programs and services for patients, their families, healthcare professionals, and the many other people and groups that make up the hemophilia community.

Electronic Treatment Tracking

Provided by Bayer Healthcare, the EZ Log electronic diary offers an efficient way of recording bleeds and infusions. Electronic record-keeping means you can't lose or misplace data. And there are two easy ways to enter data: through a secure website OR a portable hand-held device. One-to-one messaging tools allow direct communication between patients and their hemophilia care team. And healthcare providers and treatment centres can efficiently monitor their patients' conditions and adherence to treatment, even in between visits.

Interested in Using EZ Log?

EZ Log is a free, secure, password-protected system for recording bleeds and tracking treatment. If you're interested in using it, ask your doctor or hemophilia nurse coordinator about how to enroll.

Educational Opportunities

Bayer HealthCare sponsors educational opportunities for all members of the hemophilia community, from children and adult patients, to their families, to healthcare professionals. Here are just a few of the opportunities you may want to explore. To find out more, ask your Hemophilia Treatment Centre or Bayer HealthCare representative.

  • The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) patient conference

This conference offers patients, parents, and professionals an opportunity to discuss issues and learn about the latest advances in hemophilia medical treatment and support, as well as the opportunity to meet peers and build support networks. Bayer serves as a sponsor to help run the conference, offers training, and hosts an information booth.

  • "Step Up Reach Out" youth leadership program

Funded by Bayer, this International youth leadership program is designed to prepare young people with hemophilia to be the next generation of leaders who will continue to reach out and improve the lives of others.

The program was developed by University of Texas Health Science Center, Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center (UTHSC), and made possible by UTHSC and a grant from Bayer HealthCare.

  • Summer camps

In addition, every year the Canadian Hemophilia Society (CHS) runs summer camps where children build valuable relationships in a fun and supportive environment, and most importantly, are encouraged to grow more independent by learning to self-infuse. Every year, for several years now, every camper receives a kit with items that are helpful with treatment in the camp environment, donated by Bayer.

Bayer also funds many other initiatives in support of children, such as the construction of the building for safe infusions at the YMCA Camp Wanakita in Haliburton, Ontario.

  • The Bayer Hemophilia Awards Program

The Bayer Hemophilia Awards Program supports basic and clinical research and education in hemophilia. Through grants provided to early career investigators, fellows in training, and other hemophilia care professionals, the program seeks to support the next steps for the next generation of care and treatment options for people with hemophilia worldwide.

  • Online continuing medical education for healthcare professionals

McMaster University's Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine offers interactive, accredited, online CME for healthcare professionals through its machealth Division of eLearning Innovation.

Bayer helped fund the eHemophilia module, which teaches healthcare professionals working in the Emergency Department how to recognize, diagnose, and treat patients with bleeding disorders.
